We’re excited that our brand new store is now open. It’s been in the pipeline since November 2015, when I made the bold decision to not set up my store in New York or Milan, but in Bishops Stortford.
Why I hear you cry. Well, for one, I live a mere 5 minutes down the road. This doesn’t mean that the only reason I decided to set up my next steps here was from sheer laziness, but because this particular building is steeped in incredible history. A Tailors for over 400 years, set in a stunning Grade two listed building, which sadly closed its doors in February 2013.
Never one to bypass an opportunity, I saw this as a really exciting move. Building work went on for over 8 months, ripping out walls, putting back walls and not to mention the difficult removal of an asbestos infected lift shaft. In June decorating started to take place and the countdown was on. I had a very clear idea of how I wanted the shop to look, with chesterfield sofas and enough space to see our products, while feeling relaxed and homely.
After months of work, on July the 7th, we finally had our grand opening with Tennis star, Marcus Willis opening the shop. He was an ideal candidate with his boyish charm and good looks. Our local mayor joined us for the event, along with a host of fabulous locals offering their support.
Sainlo events made our guests incredible canapes, such as brightly coloured quails eggs on a bed of citrus salt which made for a real show stopper and we’re delighted to say that we have some supper club evenings in the pipeline in our shop, so stay posted. You can view their work at www.sainloevents.co.uk
Guests were amused by our photo booth, supplied by Boutique Booths www.boutiquebooths.co.uk and was a fabulous ice breaker. With hats, gloves and other accessories supplied by Tom, Dick and Harry, who are definitely worth a look with their online shop full of high quality products www.tomdickandharry.co.uk
And of course the event wouldn’t have been complete without the lovely Lux Classics and their beautiful classic cars (The cars can be viewed in our launch video on our about us page) www.luxclassics.com
Thanks to our sponsors Pall Mall Barbers, Balvenie Whiskey, Stearts and Mr, Stanleys. I think our goody bags went down in history, along with the relaunch of this gorgeous building.
We are also happy to now be collaborating with Pall Mall Barbers and will be writing bi-monthly blog posts for them, and their products will be available in store and online from October.
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who showed their support on the night, who have continued to show support by coming in and sharing your kind words and heart felt good wishes, it really means a lot to me and my team. For those who haven’t yet popped in, we look forward to seeing you very soon.
Shots from our event will be featured in our next blog post about the launch and were photographed by the talented Kevin Wood at Scott Wood Photography. www.scott-wood.uk
